Ecowave Travels Education Tour for Travel Agents and Journalists

From 15th-22nd April 2013, a group of seven (07) travel agents and journalists from France and Italy took part in an education tour with Ecowave Travels to explore Sri Lanka and experience the community based tourism initiatives of Ecowave. They visited different tourist attractions in Sri Lanka, including Kandy, Sigiriya, Passikuda, Mirissa and experienced community excursions in Kandy, Matale and Arugambay.

Kandy Esala Perahera

The glittering Esala Perahera, held in Kandy, is one of the grandest events in Sri Lanka. Many locals and foreigners look forward to witness this wonderful festival every year. This is held during the Esala month, in August, honouring the sacred tooth relic of Buddha. It is very grand, with elegant costumes and richly decorated elephants, fire dancers, whip-dancers, famous Kandyan dancers and various other cultural dances. This year, Perahera can be witnessed during the nights from 11th – 20th August 2013. If you plan your travel to Sri Lanka during this period, it would be a much more memorable experience.

Ecowave outlet in Arugambay

Ecowave Guarantee Ltd., parent company of Ecowave Travels opens its outlet in Arugambay. The outlet, which is located in the main tourist area of Arugambay, will serve as a market place for local eco-friendly agricultural products and tourist information centre. The outlet will promote community based excursions to independent travellers in Arugambay.
